Here are tonight's Blue Chips..
*** Michigan recently made the Top 16 for five-star 2022 Denton (Texas) Ryan defensive tackle Bear Alexander. Ranked as the nation's No. 5 overall prospect for next cycle, Alexander will be an extremely tough pull from the south, but it is encouraging that Michigan survived his initial cut. Area recruiter Brian Jean-Mary offered Alexander when he made his way down to Texas before the dead period. Jean-Mary recruited hard in the Dallas-area during his time at the University of Texas, and his ties there could help the Wolverines stay alive in this recruitment. Right now, Oklahoma is considered the leader.
*** Michigan made 2022 Rivals100 Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy offensive tackle Tyler Booker a big priority for next cycle. However, the Wolverines did not make his top group. Booker just never really bought into Michigan despite the staff's efforts. On a similar note, Michigan is no longer in the mix for 2022 Rivals100 Spearman (Texas) High athlete Brenen Thompson, who did not include the Wolverines in his Top 12. Thompson is a speed demon that would have been a great fit U-M's speed in space offense, but he's likely to stay south.
*** Michigan made the Top 6 for three-star 2022 Philadelphia (Pa.) Imhotep defensive end/outside linebacker Keon Wylie. Michigan hasn't recruited Philly with much success in recent cycles, so it's nice to see the Wolverines in the top group for a prospect from Imhotep, one of the best high school programs in the Northeast. We haven't talked much about Wylie since the Wolverines offered back in April, but he's definitely a gettable recruit. With that said, Penn State, Oklahoma and Texas A&M appear to be in a better position at this time.
*** Michigan also made the Top 6 for three-star 2022 Baltimore (Md.) St. Frances offensive tackle Andre Roye. U-M offensive line coach Ed Warinner does like Roye a lot and he could definitely end up being a take for the Wolverines next cycle. Of course, Michigan has had success at St. Frances in the past, and the Wolverines have a strong tie there in former Michigan coach Biff Poggi. Arizona State, Maryland, Pitt, Penn State and Rutgers are the other schools Roye is still considering.
