Here are tonight's Blue Chips...
*** While the focus for Michigan fans has been on Domani Jackson and Will Johnson, there are still more defensive back targets out there in 2022. Rivals250 prospect Jaeden Gould named Michigan in his Top 12 today. It may be a big list, but I have reason to believe Michigan is near or at the very top of the list for Gould. The Don Brown departure did hurt, and the Jim Harbaugh situation isn't helping, but Gould loves Michigan. If everything was stable, I would consider him a lock. As it stands now, he's going to consider some of the other schools on his list.
*** It should be noted that Gould has started to communicate with Jackson and Johnson and is talking about teaming up with the two. Gould may be listed as a cornerback, but he brings plenty of position versatility to the secondary. Gould can literally play corner, nickel or safety at the next level. A trio of Gould, Jackson and Johnson would be an absolutely amazing haul. All could make early impacts at Michigan. By the way, Gould is close to Michigan linebacker commit Tyler Martin. The two played in a youth All-American game together when they were younger and text all the time.
*** Michigan made the Top 13 for three-star 2022 Fort Pierce (Fla.) Westwood cornerback James Monds III. The Wolverines offered Monds as a safety in September. His primary recruit is (was?) Bob Shoop, but he likely won't be back on staff this fall. It will be interesting to see where Monds sits on the recruiting board once the staff gets situated. He does have a tie to Michigan through freshman offensive lineman Zak Zinter, who grew up in Florida before moving to Massachusetts. Zinter and Monds actually played youth football together and still talk.
*** Four-star 2022 Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman defensive back Fabian Ross held a Michigan offer but committed to USC this week. On a similar note, Michigan is out of the mix for Rivals100 Mauldin (S.C.) High cornerback Jeadyn Lukus, who left Michigan out of his top group and is considered a heavy Clemson lean.
