Here are tonight's Blue Chips...
*** I put in my FutureCast pick for Rivals100 quarterback CJ Stroud to land at Ohio State. The Buckeyes did a great job on his official visit over the weekend, and I feel like they have the edge heading into his Wednesday decision. I do believe that Michigan is in second place, and it’s not out of the realm of possibilities that he pulls a surprise. But the safe pick is definitely Ohio State.
*** I also put in a FutureCast pick for Rivals250 defensive lineman Van Fillinger to land at Utah. He made an official visit there over the weekend, and I’ve heard rumblings that he’s likely to make his decision on Wednesday. Michigan defensive line coach Shaun Nua made an in-home visit with Fillinger last week, but nothing really progressed here. It doesn’t look like Michigan will have a chance to make a push during the late period.
*** I wouldn’t be surprised if three-star Michigan tight end commit Nick Patterson ends up at Memphis. He made an official visit there over the weekend and if I were allowed to make a flip pick (apparently you can’t on Rivals), I would. I’ve hinted for a while that Patterson likely doesn’t have a spot in this class. He made OVs to Wake Forest and Georgia Tech, but those don’t appear to be viable options for him. Right now, it’s about finding a home.
*** A quarterback prospect the Wolverines could go after in the late period if they miss on Stroud is Salinas (Calif.) prospect Carl Richardson. There has been some dialogue between the two parties, so definitely keep an eye on him. Richardson is not ranked but does hold offers from Boise State, Fresno State, Nevada, Washington State and others.
