*** As I reported earlier, Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh and offensive line coach Ed Warinner were both on a call with three-star Wallingford (Conn.) Choate Rosemary Hall offensive tackle Tristan Bounds. I'm told the call went really well. Michigan is pressing for him, and he's definitely a take for the Wolverines. Bounds has a great relationship with Warinner and loves Harbaugh's pitch. I'll have more from him tomorrow.
*** So here's the deal with Bounds. He recently put out a Top 8, but from what I have been able to gather, the two big players are Michigan Virginia with Notre Dame and Texas up there as well. Bounds has visited Virginia but has not visited Michigan. If Bounds could visit UM tomorrow, I would put in a FutureCast for the Wolverines. But since he hasn't, I'm a little fearful of Virginia, especially since he's been there. Bounds is set to officially visit Michigan in June, but that may not happen due to the pandemic. If he can't make summer visits, Bounds told me he may decide in the near future.
*** Warinner and Harbaugh also teamed up to talk to Rival100 Boston (Mass.) Noble & Greenough offensive lineman Drew Kendall. It seems like I'm reporting this weekly at this point. It's clear Harbaugh and Warinner want to seal the deal with Kendall as soon as possible, and I still believe it could come in the very near future. Harbaugh made a hard push today, and I think it gave Kendall a lot to think about. I still feel very confident in my pick.
*** Harbaugh had yet another call with four-star 2022 Cambridge (Mass.) BB&N linebacker Tyler Martin yesterday. Michigan defensive coordinator and area recruiter Don Brown also joined in. Harbaugh and Brown spoke to Martin and both of his parents for about 45 minutes. Martin and his family want to visit Michigan again as soon as the dead period is over. I love where the Wolverines stand early and have my pick in.
