Blue Chips...
*** You guys have been clamoring for yet another Drew Kendall update, so here we go. I checked in with the Rivals100 offensive lineman out of Boston (Mass.) Noble & Greenough today, and he didn't really have anything new to share. Kendall is still weighing his options, but he did say that he plans to talk about things with his family and coaches soon. Kendall has said this to me before, so I'm not putting much stock into it, but a decision may finally be coming.
*** Kendall has said that he doesn't want to take his decision past August. Now, it appears his timeline is before mid-September. We have gone through the same song and dance since April. At this point, it's going to happen when it happens. I wouldn't be surprised if we just woke up one morning and Kendall has a decision made. There is really no telling when it's actually going to happen.
*** Michigan has been putting in a lot of work with Kendall recently. Winning over his father is a key part of his recruitment, and that's been the Wolverines' focus recently. Both offensive line coach Ed Warinner and offensive coordinator Josh Gattis had a video chat with Kendall's father on Thursday, which I'm told went really well. Warinner also exchanged messages with Kendall's father throughout the day today.
*** There still seems to be plenty of optimism on the Michigan side despite the continuous delays. But honestly, this one has dragged out so much that I'm really nervous about my pick for the Wolverines. Kendall did apply to Stanford, but I'm told distance is too big of a factor and that Kendall himself doesn't envision himself going out West. Boston College remains the biggest threat here. It's close to home, and his father is a legend there.
