*** Michigan hosted Rivals100 Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy safety Keon Sabb for an official visit last week. Remember, Sabb left Michigan off of his top schools earlier this month, so the fact that he made this trip is a testament to the job safeties coach Ron Bellamy did. So where do the Wolverines stand now? While I'm not really optimistic, Michigan did move the needle and is firmly back in his top group. According to a source familiar with Sabb's recruitment, Sabb really loved his time at Michigan and could see himself in Ann Arbor. However, he wants to see if Michigan can add more top recruits (Will Johnson has had some convos with him) and win some big games in the fall. Georgia, Penn State, Oregon and Texas A&M are all in the mix here as well.
*** Four-star Brentwood (Tenn.) Ravenwood cornerback Myles Pollard ended his summer with official visits to Auburn and Oklahoma. Coming out of both trips, I still like my Michigan pick, which I logged several months ago. Pollard always said he wanted to make a decision in July, and that hasn't changed. In fact, I'm told a decision could come as soon next week. New Michigan cornerbacks coach Steve Clinkscale has done a fantastic job of recruiting Pollard since he arrived in Ann Arbor and is in a strong position to notch his first big recruiting win at U-M. Pollard also has special connections with the aforementioned Will Johnson as well as former teammate Junior Colson. Auburn and OU remain threats, so we'll see if anything changes.
*** I feel like I sound like a broken record with four-star West Bloomfield (Mich.) High safety Dillon Tatum, but I know you guys still want updates on his status. Look, Tatum himself has gone pretty dark, stepping away from interviews and focusing on his decision with his family. Tatum is still having a tough time deciding between Michigan and Michigan State. As one source put it, Tatum being this stressed and quiet is very unlike him and 'weird.' Still, there is optimism around Michigan, which is why I haven't moved my FutureCast pick. Tatum has wanted to make a decision since April. Maybe July will finally be the month. I just can't see Tatum pulling a Drew Kendall and delaying again.
*** Funny story... Clinkscale actually interrupted my interview with three-star San Diego (Calif.) Lincoln cornerback Jahlil Florence last night. I'm a night owl, so most of my work gets done at night. Since Florence is on Pacific time we spoke at around 11:30 central. That means Clinkscale was burning the midnight oil since he's on eastern time. Florence and Clinkscale just started forming a strong relationship. Remember, almost all of Florence's contact with Michigan had been through Director of Player Personnel Courtney Morgan. As Michigan pushes harder coming out of his OV, I could easily see Florence ending up in the class as I said in ITB today.
