Here are tonight's Blue Chips...

*** I caught up with Melanie Colson, mother of Rivals100 linebacker Junior Colson, earlier today. Melanie told me that the family is still going through the process and talking to coaches every week. I've mentioned that she grew up in Michigan and is a big U-M fan. She's loved her calls with Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh and the staff and is very high on the Wolverines. But she also made it clear that she wants Junior to make the best decision for himself.

*** Now, I do still feel like Michigan is in the lead for Colson. I also have reason to believe that Colson is going to stick with his late May decision timeline. Tennessee is still working very hard on Colson and making this recruitment an interesting one. The Volunteers are doing everything they can to keep him close to home. Oklahoma is also recruiting Colson hard and is a school that should, at the very least, be mentioned. Again, right now, I still feel like it will be Michigan. But we'll have to see what the next week holds.

*** I also still have confidence that Michigan will land three-star Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas linebacker Jaydon Hood. With the dead period being extended, I could easily see Hood pulling the trigger before the end of the month. Miami and Florida State want him to stay closer to home, and Minnesota is making its run, but I believe Hood feels like Michigan is the best fit both on and off the field. Closing with Hood and Colson would be the most ideal scenario for Michigan.

*** Lastly, there has been a lot of chatter about Rivals250 Belleville (Mich.) High linebacker Jamari Buddin on the board today. Look, it's obvious that Buddin is trending away from Michigan, and I've reported that. But there is a lot of misinformation being spread. Michigan never turned away Buddin. They did not tell him that they are full. In fact, if Buddin wanted to, he could commit right now. I just get the sense that Buddin is looking for reasons to not side with Michigan and therefore, this will likely be the last time I write about him. You should move on.
