*** 2022 Rivals250 St. Louis (Mo.) University safety Isaac Thompson is looking to make a decision by the end of the week. Coming out of his recent trip to Ann Arbor, I felt 100 percent confident that he was going to pick Michigan. However, the Wolverines' terrible losses, stability questions and the Bob Shoop situation have given me pause. I still think Michigan leads here, but it's not the guarantee that it was a few weeks ago. Thompson made a visit to Missouri last weekend and is taking a self-guided tour of Arkansas on Wednesday. Texas and Florida remain in the mix as well. The Thompson family plans to have a long discussion before pulling the trigger if they do stick with their Dec. 4 date.

*** Michigan made the Top 10 for Rivals100 Tulsa (Okla.) Booker T. Washington cornerback Gentry Williams. U-M head coach Jim Harbaugh and area recruiter Sherrone Moore got on the phone with Williams a couple of times before the season and have been recruiting him hard for a while. Williams also happens to be from the same high school as Michigan defensive back Dax Hill. However, Williams will be a tough pull for the Wolverines. Oklahoma is considered the heavy favorite for Williams early on, and some heavy hitters down south like LSU, Georgia and Florida are high on his mind as well.

*** Michigan recently put an offer on the table for three-star 2022 Duncanville (Texas) High linebacker Jordan Crook. This offer came personally from new U-M linebackers coach Brian Jean-Mary, who recruited hard at Duncanville during his time at the University of Texas. Jean-Mary knows plenty of people around Crook's recruitment and will push to get him on campus once the dead period comes to an end. Crook is high on schools like Arizona, Baylor and USC early on, but he told me Michigan is definitely an intriguing offer.

*** Michigan did not make the Top 16 for2022 Rivals100 Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei wide receiver CJ Williams. This one is interesting since Michigan offered first, was set to host him in the spring before the pandemic really hit and Williams told me he still loved Michigan on my swing through Los Angeles a couple of months ago. However, I'm told there was a disagreement between Michigan and Williams' closest mentor. Williams also told me he didn't feel a connection with U-M offensive coordinator Josh Gattis. On a similar note, Michigan recently offered 2022 Rivals250 Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy offensive lineman Aliou Bah, but did not make his Top 8.
