Here are tonight's Blue Chips...
I recently caught up with Irmo (S.C.) Dutch Fork wide receivers coach Jason Barnes to get his thoughts on new four-star 2022 Michigan offer Antonio Williams. Barnes played wide receiver at South Carolina and was actually recruited by Michigan.
On his overall thoughts on Williams:
"The key word with Antonio is electric. You get the ball in his hands, and he'll make things happen. He can make things happen out of nowhere. He runs great routes. He's very explosive. He has soft hands. He makes plays as a kick returner and punt returner. Everybody holds their breath because they know something good is going to happen. He's a game changer. He also has a great attitude. I've never had a problem with him. He's a great student as well. He's a 3.8 GPA kid."
On Williams becoming one of the hottest recruits in the country:
"I tell him to enjoy it. The recruiting process can be a little tough. Honestly, he's not enjoying it very much. He's actually ready for it to be over. He's not the type of kid that likes the attention he's getting. He's a quiet kid. He doesn't want to be in the middle of everything. He wants to play ball and stay out of the way. He's the type of kid that will make an amazing play and walk off the field like he didn't do anything special. I told him it's going to be one of the toughest decisions of your life but enjoy it."
On Michigan recruiting Williams and the state of South Carolina:
"It's great that he got that offer. A school like Michigan definitely has a chance. They can have a chance with any kid in the country, to be honest. There is so much tradition there. Michigan was actually one of my first offers when I was a tenth grader. I think it's pretty damn cool. It's Michigan. They have great coaches, a great program and a great fanbase. It's also great to have an education from Michigan. I definitely think they'll have a chance with Antonio."
