*** As I was the first to report, Rivals250 Evanston (Ill.) Township linebacker Sebastian Cheeks made one last visit to Michigan over the weekeend. Cheeks wanted to get a final look at U-M before making his Wednesday decision date. While Cheeks is a Chicagoland kid, he had never been to Michigan prior to his official visit last month. With the ongoing dead period, Cheeks was unable to meet with the staff. However, he did get to walk around campus and see more of Ann Arbor. Overall, it was important to Cheeks and his family to see everything before coming to a final conclusion. Cheeks has relatives in Michigan, so the other part of his trip was a min-family vacation in Harbor Springs.

*** Michigan has continued to make its pitch to Cheeks. He absolutely loves the new Michigan defense and sees himself as a great fit. He's also very high on U-M's academics and the Ross School of Business. With friends Tyler McLaurin and Tyler Morris part of the program, Michigan has given Cheeks a lot to think about. As of this post, Cheeks still hasn't informed coaching staffs of his decision. I went out to Evanston to catch up with Cheeks today, and our interview was actually interrupted by a FaceTime call from Oregon. All finalists are still in contact with Cheeks. He won't inform staffs until he has one last talk with his parents tomorrow night.

*** I put in my pick for North Carolina shortly after Cheeks posted his decision date. Mack Brown has done a tremendous job of personally recruiting Cheeks, he's already been pre-accepted into the business school and he fas family by Chapel Hill. Michigan has made it interesting over the last week, though. If I had to pick a key difference between the two schools, I would say relationships. I think UNC has done a better job of getting to know Cheeks on a personal level. Texas had momentum for a while, but confidence in Austin has slipped. Wisconsin put together a nice run last month, but I think the Badgers will fall short. Oregon is a long shot, in my opinion.
