Here are tonight's Blue Chips...
*** Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh and his staff are gearing up for virtual in-home visits throughout the weekend. I'm not sure exactly how a 'virtual in-home' will work, but Harbaugh and the assistants are getting on Zoom calls with the 2021 commits and their parents over the next few says. Some have told me they plan to eat dinner while the call is going on, while others have expressed that they just want some questions to be answered in regards to everything going on with Harbaugh's contract. Either way, these virtual in-home visits should give Harbaugh one last opportunity to ease concerns with parents and recruits heading into signing day on Wednesday. As I've stated before, the majority of this class is gearing up to put pen to paper in a few days, and Harbaugh has said that he's committed to being at U-M.
*** Both Ole Miss and Tennessee have made late runs at Rivals100 Brentwood (Tenn.) Ravenwood linebacker Junior Colson. In fact, the Rivals Ole Miss writer reached out to me about Colson, and there have been reports elsewhere about the two schools pushing to flip him. I can tell you that there is nothing to worry about on the Colson front. He is being respectful but isn't really listening to either school. Colson is set to sign on Wednesday and will be an early enrollee. I quickly texted Colson's mother, Melanie, and she gave me this comment on the situation: "Junior is solid. We are comfortable with the coaching staff. Our interview with you stands." You can watch that interview here.
*** We haven't talked much about Rivals250 Suffield (Conn.) Academy defensive end Kechaun Bennett as of late. I expressed a little concern about Bennett earlier this week due to the fact that he's not an early enrollee, so he doesn't have to sign and primary recruiter Don Brown being on the hot seat. However, Bennett assured me that is going to sign with the Wolverines on Wednesday despite some late pushes from Notre Dame and Penn State. Bennett did tell me that he has some stability concerns and added that he's looking forward to talking to Harbaugh this weekend. However, he loves Michigan for more than just the staff and is putting pen to paper without hesitation.
*** Lastly, Rivals100 Boston (Mass.) Noble & Greenough offensive lineman Drew Kendall is not expected to make a decision during the early window. He is not an early enrollee and may take his decision all the way to February. I'm told Michigan isn't pushing too hard for Kendall right now, but obviously that could change during the late period as numbers work themselves out. Right now, I still feel like Boston College and Stanford are the teams to beat. But with Kendall, you just never know.
