*** Michigan will only have a small group of recruits on campus this weekend, namely commits like Will Johnson, Tyler Morris and Kenneth Grant. But the Wolverines are expected to host four-star 2022 Chicago (Ill.) Marist linebacker Jimmy Rolder. The hottest prospect in the nation, Rolder picked up an offer from Michigan last week and has high interest in the Wolverines. Remember, Jim Harbaugh personally offered, and Mike Macdonald was at his game on Friday. I would expect Rolder to make a few more visits before making a decision. Ohio State is looking to get him on campus soon as well.
*** Notre Dame commit Amorion Walker is slated to be in South Bend this weekend as the Irish really want to keep him in the class. However, Walker, who visited Michigan in September, is set to be back in Ann Arbor in November for the game against Ohio State. That's huge news for the Wolverines, who are continuing to make him a priority. While he has not flipped as anticipated, there is still optimism coming from the U-M side of things. Remember, area recruiter Ron Bellamy was at his game on Friday and has strong ties in this recruitment.
*** Michigan is making ex-Arizona commit Zeke Berry a priority. The Wolverines love his skillset (so do I) and view him as an athlete that can basically do everything in the secondary. U-M safeties coach Ron Bellamy and Director of Player Personnel Courtney Morgan are leading the way in this recruitment and are making Berry feel wanted. While he is coming off a strong visit to Oregon, there is still optimism that the Wolverines can land Berry late. I checked in with Berry earlier today, and he told me that he looking to make an official visit to Michigan in November. That gives the Wolverines plenty of time to keep making their run.
*** Michigan is going to have to keep fighting to keep four-star defensive back commit Kody Jones. I'm still getting a bit of a weird vibe here as Jones is continuing to make visits elsewhere. Illinois hosted him for the second time recently, and I'm told from sources on that side of things that there is cautious optimism. As I previously reported, Tennessee is slated to host him for a visit later this fall. The Volunteers already had him on campus and are a home state team. Michigan cornerbacks coach Steve Clinkscale did make a low key trip to see him last week, but I'm a little concerned. Not in panic mode just concerned.
