Here are tonight's Blue Chips:
*** Rivals250 Scottsdale (Ariz.) Saguaro defensive lineman Quintin Somerville informed me that he will be enrolling early at Michigan. Somerville plans to graduate in December and get to Ann Arbor in January. We haven't heard much from Somerville lately, but he is fully locked in with his commitment and is looking forward to getting to Michigan in a few months. I will be going out to Phoenix to watch him play next month.
*** Is there any reason to worry with Jaydon Hood? The three-star linebacker out of Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas gave Michigan a verbal commitment without ever visiting. Still, he remains locked in with the Wolverines and has a great relationship with linebackers coach Brian Jean-Mary. However, both Miami and Minnesota have been working hard on him lately, with Miami really turning up the heat. Miami does worry me a bit. I think Michigan can shut things down completely when it hosts him for a visit. But the ongoing dead period is allowing room for movement here. I love Hood, and Michigan needs to do what it can to keep him.
*** I would have the same concern with three-star Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas cornerback Ja'Den McBurrows since he hasn't visited either. However, McBurrows isn't really hearing too much from some of the local schools, and I think he's really happy with his commitment to the Wolverines. He still talks to the staff regularly and believes he's a great fit for the defense. The last thing left with McBurrows is obviously getting him to campus.
*** I briefly exchanged messages with the father of Rivals250 outside linebacker and Alabama commit Dallas Turner. As of right now, there aren't any set plans for the family to visit Michigan. However, a lot of that has to do with the ongoing dead period. Turner would still like to get out to some places when allowed, and I believe Michigan could get an OV if it keeps pushing in this race. Turner is a smart kid and loves U-M's academics. The family also knows Devin Bush and his family well.
