So last night I had the chance to talk for about a half hour with a former NFL Asst . Coach , who also was a college HC and knows Biff very well , and was out here with his son ( who stayed with us ) as they were attending Marylands Football Camp . We stared talking about Poggi leaving Michigan , and as most know is coming back to Baltimore , to rejoin his staff and be the HC at St Frances Academy in Baltimore . They won our league last year , after finishing last the prior year , and his staff minus him turned it around . They also this year sent 10 kids to D-1 Programs , and have scheduled games outside our league against IMG and Don Bosco Prep . Then I was told that St Frances is putting a TON of money into upgrading their facilities . I can see them being the NEXT IMG . Think that will help our recruiting going forward ? My friend said that St Frances is going to be incredibly talented in the near term with a ton of kids transferring in . He also said that with Biff our here now , that we will really work hard getting kids from this area , with such a rich talent base . What a bonus to have a guy like Poggi out here running arguably the areas best program outside of DeMatha possibly .
He then went on to tell me about Marylands Camp , and how it was just like a Harbaugh Camp , with DJ Durkin running things ( which he and his son attended ) doing the same type of drills Jim does at his , and that Durkin had worked at a satellite camp with Harbaugh out here in Virginia at Old Dominion a couple of weeks ago . It just shows how folks are taking JH's lead on how he does things . My friend was also saying how Jim is so good at picking out talented coaches , and that here at Maryland the LB's coach ( Matt Barnes ) had been at Michigan with Durkin and how good a coach he was. He just kept saying how lucky we were to have Harbaugh , and how he was just so good at having new ideas .
