Only hiccup was the missed PAT. Hart is averaging 50 per punt. Nordin nails a 50 yard FG with room to spare and a solid mid range make. PR for a TD by DPJ. KIck offs are an overlooked skill, but our kicker is getting a lot of height and depth on his kicks and put them in the corner every time. Few are returnable, but coverage was superb on those that were brought back.
The starters played lights out on both sides of the ball, but there were backups who saw significant time and looked good. Ruben Jones showed me a lot, good size and speed. Hutchinson is a star in the making. Watched him engage an OL, discarded him and make a TFL.
McCaffery, of course, is proving to be special. He's mastered the waggle and his deep balls are accurate with the right amount of air under them. The one to Bell was perfect. Which brings me to Bell. Great athlete with burst and good hands. An incredible find.
I am extremely excited by Shea's play. After seeing so many QBs in recent years who just don't make the throws consistently, Shea is a revelation. Quick release with zip on the ball and accurate. Nice catchable deep ball. And getting more comfortable every week. Another potential Harbaugh masterpiece.
Higdon is easily our best all around back. His pass blocking was good today. Picked up a middle blitzing LB to give Shea time to complete the pass. Mish mash of back-ups with Evans out, but Tru, Samuels and Turner all showed themselves capable. I love Mason in the power run game. Hill could bang in those short yardage quick hitter plays, but Mason does that just as well and is a threat anywhere in the red zone. Superb lead blocker for the tailbacks.
