3 years ago I started a pool run by a website that let's you run your own pool. Unlike brackets you set your entry fee and it is a virtual sports book where each participant gets 1,000 shares to wager games, over/unders, or parlays. The website does it all. Whoever grows their shares the most, wins the pot. We actually pay first through 4th. The final weekend is like final jeopardy. It is incredibly entertaining. (There are re buys after first 2 days too)

I just lost a game where a meaningless dunk by Georgetown covered the spread. It makes you realize how hard it is to bet games. Fortunately you can only lose the small entry fee.

One year a guy with 100 shares left won 3rd place as everyone busted out going for the win with heavy bets on the final 4 games.

After doing this format, I can't go back to a bracket. I highly recommend it for those looking for something new that provides great entertainment through the whole tournament.
