has got to be spreading teams out with 4 and 5 WR sets. We have been extremely effective both running and passing the ball with 4 or more WRs in the game, and actually average nearly twice as many yards per carry as we do in traditional sets. If you think about it, this offense is tailor made for a more wide open look.
-Not trying to start another Speight thread but we all know he's a mess under pressure. When he doesn't set his feet he's inaccurate, and long developing play action, especially with the right side of the line so far and teams stacking the box against us, too often leaves him without a good platform to deliver the ball. He does, however, make pretty good decisions, and when able to step up and throw off of a solid base, he is far more accurate. The Perry TD, for instance, Speight steps up, looks to his second read, delivers a strike. We have elite athleticism at WR and TE. Let them make plays.
-Isaac is a terror out of the shotgun set. Kid has shown outstanding vision when taking the handoff in the gun, much improved pass protection, and we know he's a great receiver out of the backfield (need to utilize this more).
-Get your best athletes on the field. Show me a big ten defense that can matchup with DPJ, Perry, Tarik, and Crawford, plus a gentry or Mckeon. Good luck. Somebody is going to absolutely scorch an overmatched linebacker or safety. I beleive Speight can find him.
Look our OL is not great right now, and our quarterback is unarguably inaccurate when pressured. Short passes, zone read, less slow developing runs and play action. I've loved what Pep has drawn up in 4 + 5 receiver sets so far, and think against Big Ten teams, especially the putrid secondary of MSU, we can absolutely destroy them with our athletes while helping both the OL and Wilton.
