Had to tape the game so just finished watching. Haven’t read any of the board yet but wanted to make some comments.
First of all, job done but I am going to nitpick just a bit.
What I have noticed in the last two games, the defensive intensity is not the same. It starts with Z. The ball pressure is not as strong, the switches are not as aggressive. Now switching today was tougher because they had some mismatches if we switched on a couple of guys, but my take away right now is the defensive effort is not where it was during that mini run a couple of weeks ago. Fatigue, opponent? Not sure, but it looks different.
Secondly, Z on offense is really starting to hurt us a bit. He is not beating his man as easily as he was and it is stalling the start of the offensive sets. We also seem to be much less patient than we were and this might be a result of dribble penetration not being successful. Z doesn’t look like the bulldog leader we saw early. He’s off. Have teams adjusted? Possibly and I do think that’s some of it. He needs to figure it out as he is as much a key as a guy like Teske is.
Our thin rotation is really apparent. Hopefully this next stretch we start to see others. Not going to say much more there.
Poole, wow. He is exceptionally quick. He’s really fun to watch. Hated the offense in the last 5 min of the game though. Too much dribbling, settling for outside shots. We made them, but they were contested and not in the flow of the offense.
We are finding ways to win. CM has barely played the last two and we still have figured it out so lots of good stuff. I think this time off against some lesser opponents will be good, more for the practices than the games.
I will be interested to hear from @MHoops1 to see if he feels like this is teams adjusting or if we are not quite as sharp as we were. I think it’s both.
