We can beat Bama. They had no respect for LSU's passing game and just loaded the box all game long. Bama's QB had problems being harrassed by the D-line of LSU. Our D-line is better and we can and will be able to throw against them. I don't care where the game was played but it showed the blue print on how to beat Alabama and we have the athletes on both sides of the ball to do it.

Think so? I don't know. Bama is just strong up front and they beat the opposing OL and then have speed at the lb'ers and a secondary that can cover with safeties dropping back in lanes.

I hear your point that LSU might not be able to throw. All that being said...UM would have to play a great game. I think UM can somewhat control Alabama offensively...like 21 pts or so but my concern is whether UM can score that many points on Alabama.

I'll take a shot IF UM gets it. Would rather see Clemson or Washington try and take them out first :)...or OSU for that matter.

We're not beating OSU, maybe Wisconsin, let alone Bama if the defense does not get some jump back in their step. The middle of the field is a black hole at times, two straight weeks now and the poor angles and poor tackling with speed runners around the edge will potentially kill them against OSU and/orWisconsin.

didn't UM beat Wisconsin earlier? Held them to 160 yards? I was at that game so I remember the beatdown (although it didn't show on the scoreboard). Whisky can't pass. Held them to like 70 yards rushing.

I think we have the potential to beat bama. Hurts isnt that great at passing, so force him to throw bad balls into coverage. I think our secondary would step up in a big time game against bams, osu and wisci again. Id be more concerned with bama run game and stopping Scarborough.

It all comes down to matchups. UM is a quality team but against more explosive offenses it will be a worthy challenge. Maryland was a tough matchup..some guys who can get to the perimeter and make guys miss.

Gedeon/McCray are better suited to defend inside the tackle backs not scat backs. OSU is going to be a challenge but UM will be a challenge for OSU. Good teams all bring something unique to a game to challenge their opponent.

What gives me hope going forward is that UM can score some points. That is why they play the games but Lamar Jackson would give even Alabama problems. I do like the matchup of the UM defense against the Alabama offense (can control somewhat) but the other way around scares me.

There was someone saying that Alabama stacked the line against LSU because they couldn't pass...true but LSU has Fournette. UM doesn't. UM doesn't have a great OL and running game so Alabama can probably control the LOS with 4 DL which begs the question of how UM can get open in the secondary.

Evans is a very good players but those Bama guys are elite. It will be a tough challenge for UM getting separation.

He's an eternal pessimist so I would ignore him. People keep talking about the Michigan defense and the challenges it has had the past 2 games. Perhaps people should think about how our offense. They way we are playing offense right now, I am not sure there is a defense that can compete with our balance. 4 different paced RBs, an O-line that is coming around, a QB that is getting better each and every week, 3 studly TEs, and 2 WRs that are incredibly dangerous. Our defense will do their job, but I thin, there isn't a defense out there that could limit us to under 30 points if we play the we are playing right now. Our offense is probably 3-4x better then it was against Wisconsin, which was by far our worst outing.

Lol. Wisconsin will NOT be able to move the ball...just as before. Their offense is something straight out of the Stone Age.

The defense is becoming a concern over the past two weeks. A really good team when they get into the red zone is going to score. Michigan State's ability to run the ball down our throat getting into the red zone several times is concerning as well as Maryland's ability to throw for 289 yards. Alabama is very experienced and has earned everything they stand for both in the past and right now this season. The same goes for Ohio State and it means very little because they lost a fluke game to Penn State this year. I'm not going to say that we are going to beat anyone else this year until we do it starting with Iowa this week. Sure Bama can be beat like anyone else BUT its meaningless to even speculate about right now. We have three guaranteed games left, Iowa, Indiana and the Buckeyes. If we get through it then its Wisky once again. Once we get through that then MAYBE we get to play the Tide. Right now, let's concentrate in Iowa.

Geez guys. I think someone said on Saturday "forget the stats, you judge a defense by the points allowed." How is UM doing with that statistic?

The OSU game is going to be one for the ages. I see both teams winning out and this is going to be one for the ages.

OSU is going to give UM fits with that speed. UM is going to score on OSU. If you look at UM objectively...teams are starting to figure out where the weak points on the defensive side of the ball.

You can run to the Peppers side. Line up a TE and neutralize Peppers speed and exploit the fact that he isn't a true lb'er but a safety. MSU showed that Stribling doesn't like to tackle. You can beat UM deep. Get them in space. This is the normal progression of a season where you figure out the tendencies of your opponent. Tape can do wonders to compete on both sides. That is where coaching really comes into play. Guys like Harbaugh, Meyer and Saban are great at it.

Look at the game last year against OSU. Can Brown anticipate what his opponent is going to do against his defense. Look at Durkin. Great game plan on Saturday but didn't have the necessary horses. I think OSU puts 24-28 pts on the board against UM.

Lastly, I think Brown has done some good things. On the last drive against Wisconsin he played off on the 1st play. Zoned em. He made a good adjustment against MSU after that first drive but this defense isn't 1997. In fact, I don't know if it's as good as 2006 with Harris and Branch but it is good but has soft spots as does OSU.

This is a really good defense at UM but a guy like Watson or Jackson or a team like Alabama is going to be able to exploit soft spots and it's encouraging that UM has a much better offense than what was expected because in order to win against the big 5 nationally at the end of the year it's going to need to help the defense out.

True statement.
We haven't lost yet. We've had some scares but still came out on top.
Here's one way to look at this season.
We're WAY WAY WAY ahead of schedule as far as having a team that contends for the B1G, CFP and NC. A year like this wasn't supposed to happen for another 2 or 3 years. JH has UM way ahead of schedule , and because of this it's given everyone higher expectations, and rightfully so because of how well he's got UM playing. So I'd say regardless if UM finally meets its kryotonite and loses a game, we should all still be very excited about the direction inwhich its going. it's on the upswing and it doesnt look to come down for quite sometime.

They sure are.....most NFL teams would beat them :).

UM is capable of beating Bama if both running games are negated (including Hurts) and it comes down to who can move the ball thru the air. We have to hope out OL can hold up vs that Bama pass rush & we can make more impactful play than their D. There's no doubt in my mind that if it becomes a passing battle we win that game.

However, right now my focus is on Iowa...

ask yourself what happens when this UM team holds an opponent to just 6 1st downs thru 3 quarters? how many points would UM have scored if theyve won field position that dominantly? bama managed 0 points in that situation, you can blame turnovers but then ask yourself how often our offense turns it over.
