So, an interesting takeaway from that vote yesterday to allow leagues to have a conf champ game with 1) less than 12 teams and 2) no division requirement.
It's #2 that I find interesting.
The B1G was against this by all accounts leading up to the vote, and it passed handily, Not surprising that the butthurt Pac12 and mAAC voted against it for obvious reasons. That said, this seems to leave the door open for the B1G and any league to just have divisions for scheduling, and not requiring the winner of each division to play in the champ game.
I'm not sure how that would look and feel necessarily, but the door seems to be open should the B1G want to explore it to rectify the "stacked" division situation that exists today, and just make it the top 2 teams in the league play.
