I pretty much posted the same thing after the game. I get that Haskins has a ton of talent and a great arm but he was not impressive on Saturday night. That was his first real challenge and he wilted. His numbers on passes that were not screens were pretty bad. On the TD to Victor that got them back in the game, it was a very bad pass behind the WR who made a great catch and thanks to some good blocking and bad tackling took it to the house. Outside of that, all of his passing yards were on screens. It must have been a really slow week in the conference for him to win or just another example of a QB getting way to much credit for a big win.
The biggest MVP’s for OSU were the awful tackling by PSU, of which there was a lot of and that genius playcall on 4th and 5.
He wasn’t over the top great against TCU either. Lots of overhyping going on here. McSorley was the far better QB on Saturday night and it wasn’t close. If the writers had any guts he’d have gotten the award, even with the loss.
In the hype world, some guys completely deserve it, see Tua. From what I’ve watched, Haskins, not so much.
Rant over.
