our punter had one year of experience at Weber State before UM. ONeill has made two bonehead plays so far this season -- ran on 4-and-20 and the game losing fumble.
Take
UM has a full-time special team coach.

Doesn't anyone take the time these days to explain "situations" to the punter and field goal holder and kicker? Fall on the ball, throw it away, etc. etc. etc?

3 for 3 on field goals, money on just about every punt and has been an integral part of the resurgence, nearly broke all-time record for punting in big game and you're concerned that he tried to run for first down while up by 3 TDS? His inexperience in the program and with this staff probably did hurt. Saying that, it was a flubbed snap it happens, we should get our eyes on the real problem, the OL that aren't getting push.

well someone on the UM staff should have told me "if you fumble the snap fall on the damn ball," don't you think, especially in that situation, time and place.

Totally agree! Blows my mind how many college (and PRO!) players don't know the situation and/or the RULES! My fave is kick returners that don't know when you do/don't have to bring a mishandled kick out of the end zone...its your JOB!

in the old words of Duffy, "its a multi-million dollar program left in the hands of kids." Still, that's why you practice 2 hours a day to eliminate mistakes. I think his Aussie background confused the lad.
