Those in Vegas may not have the number as such, but I would have the spread somewhere around MSU -4.5 versus Indiana the way these two teams have been playing of late (despite the lopsided loss by MSU today). I think MSU gets that win and will clinch being ahead of Indiana in any possible combination. Meanwhile I would be damn near shocked at this point to see Minnesota win both games this week and earn a tiebreaker over MSU if both are 8-12 (more likely Minnesota loses both than wins both).
On the other end maybe MSU can somehow sneak a win next week at Breslin and get to 9-11. The only tiebreaker they could win is if Rutgers loses both (doubtful) and Maryland wins one of two. Nonetheless, that just bumps the Spartans up to the 8 seed in Indy. Either way 8/9 matchup for MSU.
As for their NCAA hopes the loss today will slide them being barely in to a handful of spots out. Win versus Indiana and get swept to Michigan and they will be about four spots away from the field. Beat say Rutgers or Maryland (or even Wisconsin) in that 8/9 game and lose again to Michigan. Still looking at two spots out of the field. 40% chance to make it.
Michigan just needs to beat these clowns three in a row to likely end that long NCAA streak.
