sorry but when the chips were down the UM defense was gashed. Wilton accounted for more OSU points then its offense. And the OL remained truly below average for an entire year. I thought UM had the OL coach of the century.
Our defense gave up a grand total of 3 points in regulation to OSU...at OSU. What are you talking about? Since MSU our defense has given up 12 points, 10 points, and 3 points until the OT. With that production you should expect a win - it was our offense that stagnated and more importantly it was the drops by Butt, Darboh and Chesson - was reading that each of those guys dropped 6-7 passes over the past 3 weeks. You do that and you don't win games. Our defense played virtually the entire 2nd half and was tired which is normal.
Let me defend my post. A good defense makes stops when they are needed. Versus Iowa and OSU the defense did not make stops because a game is more than 30 minutes long. The OT looked like the UM defense had already left Columbus. Sorry but statistics take a back seat to the W-L record.
With 3 5th year seniors the OL lost the Iowa game (another Kalis mental error) and failed again today. Can you imagine UM trying to run out the clock by ball control? I can't either.

Completely agree, Brown has down an outstanding job this year with this defense. The amount of pressure, however, put on to them by the game plan of Harbaugh's offense, is immense. Our pass defense until the very end of this game was suffocating, OSU had no where to go on play after play. I think mid-4th quarter Barrett had about 60 yds passing. However, a multi-functional offense like OSU's will eventually catch up to any D if your offense is not making first downs and taking time off the clock. Starting mid-3rd quarter our offense seemed to shut down.Defense was fine. When you are on the field drive after drive after drive....that is definitely some coaching. Brown actually did a very good job this year and I give him kudos. Brown is clearly a high end DC.
...My issue is that these guys are coaching the last half of the 4th quarter plus completely different than the rest of the game against better competition. Go back to MSU.
Either this staff is in love with their defense or the play calling is getting 'tight' because of pressure. I'd rather throw an int 20 yards down field than just punt the ball when the team has 4 downs and a dynamic qb or rb (Wadley) and the defense is tired.
You are spot on. I think Harbaugh is like any other coach (take Don Coryell). He has the opposite bias to the run side. I don't have a problem with a coach who rather play power run ball vs. passing ball but you have to have the personnel. Harbaugh is a good game coach. Shouldn't pass every time and I don't know who is making the final calls but clearly he doesn't have the personnel right now to make it work to his level. If he had Jarrod Bunch and Chris Howard along with Long, Cocozzo and Elliott he would have won both at Iowa and OSU.Completely agree, Brown has down an outstanding job this year with this defense. Again, agreed. Our game plan of mid-range passing, misdirection, TE isolation, etc. wilted as the game progressed. It became a couple runs with Smith and a pass (where the hell did Grant Perry go, for instance?) This is a crack in the seam of Harbaugh's coaching, I suspect it's a combination of feeling pressed to beat rivals and that we're not really adequately armed on offense. For God's sake, we're starting Wilton Speight at QB and aside from a really lousy, second INT he's been more than sufficient for this scheme. What happens when an outstanding, highly skilled QB gets in there behind linemen that have been selected for this scheme and with a stable of powerful RBs? The future is bright, 20-5 is nothing to cough at, few of us would have dreamed 24 months ago we'd be 5 points away from going to the Big Ten Championship and the playoffs.
