Practice Report That Michigan Fans Won't Like!

Michigan Football
This post isn't meant to alarm, it's just information from some people observing practice. Before you read it, RELAX!
There is no "Harbaugh magic" when the team isn't as talented as originally believed. I'm not here to tell you the Wolverines won't be successful in Harbaugh's first season, but from what I am told by guys watching practice, it doesn't look good so far in spring practice.
Some high school coaching types I know in Michigan and Ohio have had a chance to observe practice this season and either they are viewing on multiple bad days or this Michigan team really missed as it evaluated recruits under former Michigan Head Coach Brady Hoke.
From what I am told, Harbaugh has been left with a lot of talent that simply can't play, even many of the five star recruits that Hoke was lauded for when he convinced them to come to Ann Arbor. Shane Morris and Derrick Green, the two crown jewels of the Hoke era simply aren't as great as advertised, yet! One former college coach told me they should have separated themselves by now. No amount of coaching can fix what isn't there from a talent perspective. I've heard from many sources that Morris is great in 7 on 7, not so great when he's under pressure. Either you have the ability or you don't and as of right now it appears Alex Malzone has the most ability on campus at the moment. That isn't good. We will have to wait for Gentry and possibly Iowa transfer Jake Rudock to get on campus to get a clear view of the QB position.
The HS coaches also believed the offensive line was very suspect losing many battles to the defense and appear to be a bit lost with the two new centers replacing Miller and Glasgow. Soft and slow is simply not the way to go through a season in the B1G, however other sources claim a couple of the starting O-lineman are separating themselves from the pack.
The receiving group is the strength of the offense as many of the WR's and TE's can catch the ball and make plays when the ball is near them, which isn't often.
On the defense it isn't much better, only Peppers, Wormy and Henry stand out and the defense looks slow, which is inexcusable as speed isn't subjective.
It may be too early to panic but these reports are not good in Spring practice. I still think Harbaugh will win more games with this group than Hoke, but there are concerns that the talent level at Michigan simply isn't there yet.
