Illinois going to be up 7-6 at the half. I was laughing hysterically at the draw play up the gut for a TD.
Hey, you don't just walk into a game against the titans from Champaign-Urbana and waltz out with an easy victory. No one should be surprised this is a dog fight.
Even if they don't win, the Fighting Lovies going for the moral victory.

There comes a time when you simply stop laughing at your rivals' misfortunes and instead start feeling sorry for them. 
It hasn't happened, but I'm sure I'll feel sorry for them sometime in the future.

MSU really looks beaten up (injuries). Just a bad year but in all honesty they are going to need a year or so to turn this thing around. It's not going to be 11-1 next year. They have some rebuilding to do. I don't know if they lost a lot from last year or injuries or youth but it isn't just a qb issue.
Their OL isn't overly talented plus their defense has serious issues. This isn't a Dantonio coaching problem but may be a Dantonio recruiting/evaluation problem.

Every game they have multiple people laying on the field. Is that just all bad luck or is something else going on?
I don't think players are laying down to get off the field. Now that would be a major issue. Are you inferring toughness?
I think when you have a 2nd team or 3rd teamer playing against 1st teamers it may be a case of guys not being prepared to play at a higher level. I don't know.

Okay, HUGE moral victory for D'antoni's 'toons.
To go into Champaign and almost pull out a win, that's just big.
They played with a lot of heart today. Neither team had anything at all to play for, and the outcome really didn't matter to anybody.
If Illinois wins out, they'll be bowl eligible. So you could say that they still have something to play for.
HA! Well that's technically true.
Then again, MSU could sneak into a bowl at 5-7 if they win out.
Maybe trying to pull your team out of a death spiral and/or beating a conference for is something to play for? I must be old fashioned. Not bothering to try to win once you can't make a great bowl game seems weak to me.
Sparty fans are completely delusional. Most of them believe this is just a down year and they'll be back next year. Problem is, there is a significant lack of young talent in that program. Welcome back to normal msu football, where we beat them 3 out of every 4 games for forty years.
