Nice...a few revisions in my view

I like your choice of players, but give Glen and Trey 1st team status based on how they stepped up on the big stage. (Had to revise...how could we forget Grant?)

My first team, a fan since 62

I have been watching UM basketball since 1962. Starting 5 by position:

1 - Gary Grant
2 - Cazzie Russell
3 - Glenn Rice
4 - Rudy T
5 - Chris Webber

I've always thought Webber gets too much adulation on UM boards...

not that he wasn't a heck of a player but more that he was more 'flash' especially during his playing days. Didn't say he wasn't a very good player with lots of talent.

I always thought Howard was more reliable on the offensive side but not quite the talent as Webber. I would argue that Rose was a more consistently productive player than Webber. When Webber came to play and was on his game then o.k.

I personally thought Tarpley was a better player. I think he even proved that in the NBA in his short stint. It's a close call but I'll take Tarpley. Maybe some can't remember Tarpley and this was before all the ESPN hype, etc.

Regarding Grant. He was also a heck of a player...tenacious defender but a little inconsistent on the perimeter game. I personally prefer Burke.

Didn't see Cazzie or Rudy T. Can't comment. I agree on Rice.

My all-time UM coach....John Beilein over Strack.

Reality Man

Cazzie Russell would be the top player all time, hands down; he was an early version of Magic Johnson, a big man who could handle the ball, set up teammates, play the post, score if necessary, etc. Those two --- Cazzie and Magic -- would lead the way on any All Big Ten team post 1960, probably along side Jerry Lucas, Rick Mount, Isiah Thomas, and Glenn Robinson.

1st team: Rudy T, Cazzie, Phil Hubbard, Ricky Green, Jalen Rose.
2nd team: Tarpley, Grant, Trey Burke, Webber, Howard
3rd team: Rice, McCormick, Grote, Stauskas, Mike McGee
Honorable mention: Vaught, Rumeal, Novak, Thad Garner, Spike (these last 3 are more region favorites)
