All right. Access to UM basketball on t.v. Missed the first 2 minutes

but quick observations after 13 minutes

1. JB to the quick 'hook' on Doyle. Dang. Gets a bucket and then beat by a quicker center and boom...on the bench. Wagner is lighting it up on the dribble drive/spin moves but it sure looks like JB gets it...Doyle is not the guy for this team against other 1st teamers. Doyle did drop a pass but it looks like Donnal is going to ride the pine and its going to be MO and Doyle.

2. Robinson is small. Needs 15 lbs of muscle to add.

3. Chatman is talented but can't put the ball in the hoop.

4. Irvin has had a good start and it looks like the staff has told him to diversify. I saw a couple of drives to the hoop. Yeah.

Well....Charlotte is a 3rd tier team. That didn't tell me a whole lot.

Robinson is a good threat from the perimeter but JB is going to have to hide him on defense. Looks like he is LeVert as a frosh (body wise). Not strong or fast enough on defense. Zone anyone. Anybody who is good on offense is going to work him.

Irvin much more diverse today but had some brick laying 3 pt'ers. Guy is a below average 3 point shooter but that doesn't stop him . Rest of his game is good and is a very good college player when he understands he shouldn't shoot more than 2 3 pt'ers per game. One hit the backboard/no rim and the other was a side clank. When he shoots it...if it hits the rim that is a make for him.

Walton/LeVert fine.


Dawkins...guy has talent coming out of his ears. Needs to continue to develop his game and be more aggressive. Let's the game come to him which is fine but only when Irvin and others are scoring otherwise JB ought to sit him and roll the dice with Robinson who I don't think can guard anyone in the Big Ten.

Could JB offer his BT opponents 8 pts per game not to have Robinson worry about his opponent during the game. Like a default 8 point offer?

Doyle...2nd string guy. He doesn't have any explosiveness. White guys can't jump . Can't move laterally. Can do some garbage stuff but he ain't the answer. Works hard but truly a limited hardworking backup.

Wilson...matchup guy but has potential but reminds me somewhat of Robinson in that he can't guard anyone for his position. Too small. Zone guy. I like him but as a 7-8th man off the bench.

Albrecht needs to get healthy. Hopefully this team can be tourney eligible by the time this team matures and gets healthy.

Again...this team is going as far as Irvin, Robinson, Dawkins AND now Wagner if he can develop. Hard to tell against such a weaker overmatched opponent. This team would really be screwed without Wagner because I don't JB would recruit or offer either Donnal or Doyle. Too SLOOOOOWWWW.
