Greetings, folks. Driving out from Chicago Saturday morning for the game. I've enjoyed past visits to Ann Arbor (and, of course, multiple visits to Zingerman's), but I'm wondering if any of you might have recommendations as to other spots to grab a bite before the game - perhaps even a breakfast place if there's one worth mentioning? Also wondering what you might single out as an iconic, quintessential Michigan hangout, like, say, Nick's English Hut in Bloomington, The Airliner in Iowa City or the Rathskeller in Madison . . . the kind of place that's been there for generations, is steeped in Michigan history. Always like to visit places like that while following Northwestern. Any thoughts or suggestions you might have are appreciated.

Hi NURoseBowl,

I've been to Nick's English Hut and it reminded me of The Brown Jug in Ann Arbor, so you might want to check it out. I was just back in AA for the Oregon State game (I live in DC now) and there was this new place called Mash Bar that I really liked. It's a Whiskey/Beer bar and they had a really cool blues band that afternoon after the game. We had a blast there! Hope you enjoy the game and good luck!

There's a relatively new speakeasy-style bar (meaning no big sign outside, you have to hunt for it) in downtown Ann Arbor called The Last Word. The eponymous cocktail is excellent, as are the others I've tried there. If you are at all into the craft cocktail craze, this is a must visit spot.
