A good buddy I haven't talked to as much in recent years passed away last week. He lives with colorectal cancer for the last eight years and it finally took him.
He leaves behind a wife, a 10-year-old son, and a 6-year-old daughter. We worked together for 6 years. He and I used to skip work together to go snowboarding and since our kids are the same age they played together often. He was the rare Jewish guy living in Utah and since I was also rare in my beliefs it gave us some common ground and also a great jumping off point to give each other shit.
We haven't worked together since 2008 and I've moved a couple of times since then. We managed to keep in touch though less and less over the years. I now live in California and I suppose it was a little over year ago the last time I saw him.we had lunch at whole foods in Salt Lake City when I came home to visit. He was pale and thin, but still had the same spirit and seemed as much a smart ass as ever before.
You guys are great at sending along your condolences and prayers, but I'm not asking for that. I just wanted to take a second and tell you about my friend, Dov Siporin, Who died last week. He was 39 years old.
