Western Michigan senior linebacker Treshaun Hayward entered his name into the transfer portal today. A former three-star recruit, Hayward is a Ypsilanti native and attended Ann Arbor Skyline.
We just exchanged some quick texts with Hayward, who entered the portal just a few hours ago, and he told us he would consider Michigan if the Wolverines reached out. They haven’t yet, but we understand that head coach Jim Harbaugh the Wolverines’ staff is set to evaluate the portal and make contact with potential additions once they get through National Signing Day on Wednesday.
Hayward is projected as a late-round draft pick or an undrafted guy if he were to go this year. He has totaled 58 stops, including 3 tackles for loss, this season, and was the MAC Defensive Player of the Year and a second-team All-American by Sporting News, with the 6-1, 235-pounder notching 142 tackles, 10.5 stops for loss, five sacks and one pass breakup during the 2019 season.
Stay tuned for more on Hayward in the days to come.
