Interesting result - two notoriously defensive teams, yet we gave up more points today than any all year, and 25 over the average. At the same time, 89 is probably in our top 3 of offense this year. Almost like both coaches sort of forgot to coach defense this week and concentrated on how to break out offensively, with great success.

If you just look at the stat lines, you look at the 16 TO and think it was just Martin's team playing intense defense. But we were unusually sloppy with the ball today.

Confidence is an interesting thing - as Poole gains confidence, his game just dominates, whether spot up shooting or blowing past defenders, even carrying the ball up instead of Z. However, I really think confidence has caused Z to try to do much with pushing the ball up the court, trying to force highlight-reel plays, and taking ill-advised shots. I'm sure it will calm down. The good news is that he seems to play within himself when the stakes are highest...

BTW, Poole's finish on the fast break feed was unbelievably athletic. The pass was too far in front for him to flush it, so in mid-jump he adjusted and laid it in from the other side...that was impressive...

Considering the banging they let go on today, I sort of feel bad for Matthews. He got called for 3 of the weakest calls I saw on the floor today. I think it affected his aggressiveness...but the offense was there today...

Teske is a boss out there, now both on offense and defense. Behind him we have...well, concerns. Hopefully the next 3 games will allow Beilein to develop one of the bigs behind him. If not, the season will wear on Teske, and we might have problems come March...

Frank Martin plays tough defense...might me called football defense...and barks at the refs so he gets some calls...sound familiar? I think I'd love to see a South Carolina-MSU game. It might end up in a brawl...and I have a feeling Martin might squash Izzo like a fly...it would be fun to watch...

Anyone watch the pregame today? Don't know who was talking, but the question was if Duke was the best team in the country, despite the #3 ranking. One comment was that both Gonzaga and Michigan are better right now...and the high praise continues...

...but we're pretty thin if we can't develop another big. Livers was great today, and Eli has some experience and a solid shot, and an emergency decent handle, but apart from that, we need the next few games to be growing from the bench....

10-0...sounds great. But with every W the pressure mounts. I think I wouldn't be too upset if we have a hard-fought road game against a ranked team where we come up a bit short, just to get the blasted thing off the table. We've already separated ourselves as a top 10 team, so a little blemish or two won't hurt us IMO...without injuries in a very tough conference, I think we'll be fine...
