I really wish that we could have played NCST tonight. Toledo is a good MAC team, but they were helpless inside without any big bodies. Very guard oriented. They do have some nice guards but we guarded the three point line well, and it was tough to dribble drive into the paint against our length. They actually made some really tough shots when they weren't being blocked or deflected. This makes the B1G season even more intriguing. PSU is in some ways similar to Toledo, also very guard oriented, depending on three point shooting. Their bigs will at least be ........big.

It was nice to see Smith knock down a couple of threes. He's been off. Once again, we could get anything we wanted, whenever we wanted it. Dickinson could have scored every time down the floor if they got him the ball. He could simply over power their centers, and they refused to double him. Of course, his passing would make them pay either way. Davis, too. If anything he bullied them even more. Johns didn't get many minutes, but he makes the most of it at both ends. If Davis is out for PSU, we'll need Brandon to play some 5.

Brown, Livers and Wagner gives us a very strong trio of wings. What I like is that all three are capable defenders who are physical and contest shots. All three are versatile offensive players, as well. I love to watch those guys play. Sometimes, Franz forces things on his drives, but that's my only criticism so far. As for Livers, what's the deal with rolling up his shorts? Chaundee has exceeded all reasonable expectations so far. It's hard to have a really big scoring night with this team since they have so many options. 5 in double figures tonight.

Juwan is progressing as a coach, too. We're running his stuff now so he's naturally more comfortable, and more on point with his players during games. Last season, X knew the offense better than Juwan. There's some debate about finishing this season with COVID raging. I hope that we can play. Juwan needs the games as much as the players.

A word on Eli. He guarded Jackson for most of the first half, during which he could not get clean looks and went scoreless. Eli is smooth as silk on his threes. Teams seem to forget about him, and all of a sudden, he's open at the three point line with nobody near.

I liked the announcing crew tonight. Kelser is all class. Kinda missed the crowd reactions tonight. That buzz of ambient noise is getting old.
