We never had any edge as a team in that game. So many mental errors; poor decision-making. And Flowers had a great game for WMU. Recipe for an upset. But Matthews bailed us out. Hit some big shots to keep WMU at bay. Aggressive taking the ball to the basket. Great D on a day when our D was lackluster. Started out 2-5 at the line before hitting 5 in a row. He didn't finish a few drives, but played with energy and confidence. Needed all of it.

Teske taking a reverse layup instead of dunking drives me crazy, as does fouling a three point shooter on a desperation heave. We left so many points on the floor with missed layups and
free throws. Iggy was in a complete funk. His shots were often way off, and he looked nothing like the guy who hit 11-12 FTs against SC. One of several who's on ball defense was lacking. Surprisingly, Simpson was another as he struggled to stay with Flowers. We were a step slow on curls into the lane area. We had spurts of solid defense and did force some turnovers.

We did have some great looks on offense. I did not think that we were forcing shots. Probably should have gotten Poole more involved. Livers simply missed a couple of great 3 point looks. He needs to work on finishing drives. OTOH, Simpson hit three straight from 3 point range. Good for him after 0-5 last week. Poole looked good on limited chances.

Davis was just OK. Unfortunately, with the game saying close, he didn't get as many minutes as I would have liked. Poor Johns got none. Looked a little glum on the bench.

OSU barely got by Bucknell today. Maybe it's a holiday thing. Good to see Nova take Kansas to the wire even though they lost. Butler leads IU at the half. Lavall building the resume.
