As I have read threads on here over the years it is my perspective that many folks have a perceptual lens that does not allow them to feel happiness or gratitude for being a fan and cheering for a team. Part of that comes from being a fan since 1953. The Bo years were great curb stomping most teams but Bo's team stumbled, had bad things happen to them that lead to a loss or two at the end of the season. Or in a very few cases during the middle like 84. At 76 I am so grateful for this year. We were important in the national discussion. We mattered each week even though some of us threw the team away after ND. A 10 win double digit season is wonderful.

Every one of my high school friends is dead. Every school day for two years I picked up each one of them and took them to school. Well except for the days we declared a snow day. We then played poker to study our math skills. Later we all had season tickets for U of M and for many seasons played club rugby often on game days. One of those friends was even known at his church as "Little Bo." Another friend who had become one from a love of cars, golf and U of M football was so pumped the year that Harbaugh was hired. We had many a conversation at our favorite bar about the future and our anticipation. He died in April the first Harbaugh year. When I left the stadium after the SMU game this year I went by the corner of Main Street and Keech. No apparel tent and the spaces around the brick house were not being used. Bill and his tail gate gang rented all those spaces for decades. After 4 years the gang had given them up. He was the glue. He was 56 when he passed. So take it all in. Give thanks for the good times and the opportunity to cheer for a team that winds so often. Out of 130 teams we are blessed. GO Blue
