the goal is to win. Beilein noted they "kept is simple." They knew what they needed to do to win, and with so much film out there, you put out what you need to put out in games like this.
Just win.
When others were saying, "stop shooting threes," Beilein was saying, "keep shooting threes." They had good looks and they have good shooters. It was a matter of time before some of them fell. The alternative is to play hero ball and have guys like Matthews, Brazdeikis and Poole try to force the action.
Then you get the last four minutes of the first half, which were really ugly and which Beilein hated.
Air Force played X differently ... not only did they sag on him, they dared him to pull up and take an eight-foot jumper, sagging all the way to the rim. He didn't. He'll need to have the confidence to shoot that.
Eli Brooks has been really solid.
And finally, as Beilein noted, when the film is out there, the game becomes about adjustments, adjustments, adjustments. He's one of the best in the business at this (not really an opinion anymore). This team will be very good and will contend. Defense travels, and they'll have chances to win even on nights when shots aren't falling because of it.
