There is a wealth of knowledge here, especially auto knowledge given the geographics of our fan base. I am looking at SUV's and prefer to buy American - support our own and all that.
I've come down primarily to Jeep and Ford. I like the Edge but do oversand driving in the summer on Atlantic beaches and understand the AWD won't cut it. Which puts me in a SUV bigger than I need, but there you have it. I need 4WD. So, strongly leaning towards a Jeep Grand Cherokee. They get higher ratings than the Ford Explorer almost across the board. Except in reliability. I've owned both and the Grand Cherokee did have some drive train issues. But the Explorer wasn't perfect either.
Can someone give me some comfort in buying a Grand Cherokee again?
BTW, I have a friend who runs an Acura dealership and would give me a great deal on an RDX, but the expense of insuring and repairing those luxury brands is unappealing. I've done it too often.
