and we had 2TE formation on the field. Obviously the game is over and none of it matters or mattered at that point, but damn. We’re sending 2wr and a TE out on routes and a RB in the flat and mckeon stays home as a blocker. This is my loose recollection.

You have 3 bonafide NFL WR talents and who knows what we have in Oliver Martin, Ronnie Bell and an absolute enigma in Grant Perry (maybe the biggest single season disappearing act by a Michigan WR ever).

Yet we’re in 12 personnel with 15 to the sticks.

Felt like third and long play action all over again. The third and long playaction is just a microcosm of what we’re seeing in our offensive game plan this year and last.

I don’t support the narrative that prostyle manball can’t win. Bama is winning with it. We just aren’t really running it well.

A grab bag of zone read and power concepts with dead downs (wasted plays) on every critical drive. 2nd and 10 with 51 second and two TO on the 35 and we run up the gut (with basically a slot WR playing out of position). Obvious passing down plays without embedded hot routes against blitz happy defenses. Last year it was third and long play action and draw plays to mckeon and long developing route trees despite poor OL personnel. Just more wasted downs leading to dead drives!

We saw Rudock pass for 3014 in 2015 with the team in its FIRST year in a new system. This year? Shea passes for 2364. That’s 5* Shea, the number one QB recruit in his class vs 5.6 3* castoff rudock. Shea passed for the same number of yards last year at ole miss in just 7 starts.

We have a sequencing and rythym issue on offense. Harbaugh is to blame. Pep is to blame. And it’s not going to fix without change. One of these two was here in 2015 and 2016. The other was not. I’m a results oriented guy. Let’s make the change that is needed. The good news here is, 2015 (new QB, new system) tells us that positive change came come about quickly (single season fast).

Harbaugh has delivered 10 win seasons 3/4 years here. 2015 and 2016 were very good teams. He’s doing plenty right and has done plenty to stay on, but he needs to make the obvious changes.
