I have no inside information, but I expect a few guys to move around in the spring...

#1 Michael Barrett to RB. Depth at RB is pretty poor...but I consider the attrition of 2018 all good. Barrett has the build to play the position and could also play some wild cat. He would become the #5 guy at worst at a position where 3 play and injuries are commonplace. PLUS...I believe Evans is most effective as an APB instead of at TB, so if you break RB into TB and APB it looks more like Wilson/Turner/Charbonnet as TBs and Evans/Barrett/Jackson at APB.

If he stays at receiver, he’s behind DPJ, Black, Collins, Martin, and Bell. He’d be competing for slop time with the walk-ons Shoenle and McCurrie and the incoming frosh...

To me, his best chance to contribute in 2019 is at RB.

#2 Philip Paea to NG...I don’t know the exact reasoning for moving him to the OL, but I think his path to PT is stronger at DL with the departure of Solomon. He’d fit the more classic NG profile and could compete for a spot in the playing rotation in year 3. He was a very good 2-way player in high school, and I think his best opportunity will be on defense in 2019.

#3 Jamarick Woods to Viper. Hudson and Glasgow will both be seniors and we don’t have another Viper candidate on campus as of today. Solomon, Velazquez and Quentin Johnson will all get a strong look here in the fall, but Woods has pretty much been displaced, assuming Metellus returns. Hill is gonna take minutes, Hawkins seems to have passed him, and Faustin appears to be finding his stride.

I realize that none of these are big head-turners and probably seem pretty obvious. So if you are filling out your depth charts for next year, I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see those 3 lining up at their “new” positions.
