The first drive bogged in the Red Zone after we decide to throw the lowest risk passes in the game. We ran the ball well in that drive as maybe MSU respected OKorn's passing ability after last game and figured we would pass in first half with bad weather in second coming...Then we start to pass...It becomes obvious to MSU that we have little passing ability. They tighten up at the line, weather moves in...Game Over. The second half is very tight but we decide not to throw up any long jump balls even though we have big kids who can go get it. The few we do throw are out of bounds. MSU's big pass play was a jump ball. We can fool ourselves by saying MSU couldn't get any first downs in the second half. They were up 11 in a game we couldn't score 11 total points. They did exactly what they needed to do until they felt we could threaten them. We had an unbelievable defense and they saw we had a better chance of throwing a pick than crossing mid-field...so... milk the clock just the way they did vs. OSU a couple years ago in bad weather. Lewerke vs. OKorn was the difference in this game and the MSU coaches used Lewerke to spread us in the first half and protect the ball in the second when the weather came in.
