All we hear about from the media is how injuries have limited the spartans.
The parallel is amazing and the media already makes excuses for MSU and gives them a bye for a disappointing season in which they are likely to finish 6-6 or possibly even 5-7. Yet, Harbaugh and MIchigan, in an incredibly similar situation, was absolutely crucified by the media last year for "under-performing" with an 8-5 record.
Receiving corps in 2017 decimated with injuries? Yes.
- Tarik Black, UM's top receiver out for the season after a couple of early games
- Nico Collins injured and only played last couple of games
- Oliver Martin out for the season
- Eubanks (TE) out for the season after a couple of early games
- Grant Perry missed majority of the season
- McDoom missed most of the season
- Crawford missed many games
Top QB in 2017 with limited accuracy due to a shoulder injury and QB depth an issue? Yes
- Speight had a lingering shoulder problem that significantly limited his accuracy even prior to his season ending neck injury in the 4th game of the season
- Back up QB's struggled but in Michigan's case also suffered significant injuries and missed games
Substantial 2017 offensive line problems hampered the offense? Yes
- UM's had a group of extremely inexperienced lineman and key players forced out of their ideal positions due to an injury to Grant Newsome
The BTN and national media seem to hold Harbaugh to a completely different standard than Dantonio. Almost identical situations and Dantonio is commended for getting his team to "battle through", yet Harbaugh was mocked and universally criticized for his "poor coaching" and lack of adequate QB depth "after three years of recruiting".
