Class was great but now with the analysis coming out, this class might actually be potentially the best in the nation based on needs. While OSU, FSU, etc have more 5-stars if you look at the needs that this fills for Michigan, it will be hard for anyone to beat this class. In recent weeks, post recruiting analysis sites have shown:
  1. Best 1-2 punch LBs
  2. Best 1-2 punch DE
  3. #2 WR haul in the nation
Those were the 3 areas where really needed to recruit very hard. Folks will remember not getting Wilson or Harris but wow, super excited about what we can do with the type of talent we have especially in years to come. Major kudos to JH and his staff for how they have approached recruiting. I think it will be hard for them to have Top 5 classes the next couple years purely given that we won't recruit that many kids anymore since I imagine the program will start to stabalize quite a bit more and we won't see as much attrition as we have in the past couple years.

If you are an elite kid in the midwest or want to be coached by NFL type coaches, I am not sure there is a better school then Michigan to attend right now - not to mention fantastic education.

Will be great to see how we do against OSU moving forward given that the talent level will be more at parity then it has been the past decade.

Recruiting is doing well...However, JH and his staff's best performance come with developing the players he has on his roster. If you want to play and are willing to work hard, then JH and staff will make you the best you can be.

Examples: the Graham brothers (1 in the pro's, 1 on his way to the pro's, and 1 contributing on the field now...all walk-ons); QB Speight, who Balas himself said would not play a meaningful down; a couple stud FB's (nearly lost on the college scene); low to mid 4 star OL Cole, Newsome, Bredeson, and Onweno (all of whom started to play and contribute as true freshman); etc.

You mean Glasgow brothers???

Do you all think that JH disdains a "football factory mentality" like OSU and Bama (among others) and tries to do the right thing for every recruit including focusing on good kids rather than athletic kids from good families?

No, he is actively trying to recruit a lot of the same guys Urban and Saban and Jimbo and Dabo are recruiting every year. He would have given his left nut for Najee Harris and Mike Weber. Likewise, he fought hard for Rashan Gary and DPJ, not because they were good kids but because they were blue chippers who will help him accomplish his primary goal: Winning football games.

This idea that Harbaugh is benevolent and only seeking young men who are good kids rather than athletic kids from good families is hogwash. He is looking for players who will help him win and will buy into his message. It is clear from his "meritocracy" message and processing of committed recruits that he is not going to be satisfied with a good kid when a better athlete crosses his path and wants that spot.
