Looking at the schedule for next year, Michigan should be 7-0 heading into East Lansing:
  • Hawaii (W)
  • UCF (W)
  • Colorado (W)
  • Penn State (W especially if Hack returns)
  • Wisconsin (50/50 but home game we should win)
  • @Rutgers (W)
  • Illinois (W)
  • @MSU (50/50 I think we have a good shot given how many folks they lose this year to the NFL)
  • Maryland (W)
  • @Iowa (likely loss, tough place to play and Iowa returns pretty much their entire team)
  • Indiana (W)
  • @OSU (50/50 they lose a lot of players to the NFL but will still be very very talented)
Likely a 9-3 or better season in store where the schedule is actually a little more favorable then 2016 was though our 3 toughest games are all on the road, which will make it hard.

MSU has a fairly easy schedule except for @ND, who should be very good next year. OSU on the other hand has a tough slate in 2016 - @Oklahoma, @MSU, @PSU, and @Wisconsin

MSU has a QB issue and I think Burbridge is gone, those are huge losses. We need a QB but have a nice stable and a RB that can make a differ eve, I like our chances there

First 5 games at home, and 6 of first 7 (away at Rutgers in between). So, yes, odds of a 7-0 start are pretty good.

MSU will be interesting next year. They will lose King (I think), Cook, Burbridge, Calhoun, Conklin and Allen - with 5 of them going in the first 2-3 rounds of the draft. That's a lot of talent gone right there. Their injury situation this year afforded them the luxury of playing a lot of young players that will be more seasoned next year but when you lose 4 key players on offense like they will, it will be hard to replace them. Having said that, Dantonio has a factory of players in East Lansing and he's a fine coach so it would not surprise me to see them still do well - I do like our chances next year assuming we improve from Year 1 to Year 2.

Barring a disaster of injuries, unpreparedness, or who knows what else, UM should basically cruise to a 6-1 or 7-0 start. All of which will mean diddly if they can't finally beat MSU.

After that, I would not consider at Iowa a loss. I think even this year's team would match up pretty well with them, even better than IU. Wisconsin should be the only game even close to difficult until MSU.

Mr JRMSU thinks this is the only season in the next 20 we may beat MSU, for what that's worth. As long as our QB situation is in good shape I like our chances vs MSU. The talent gap between UM and MSU is considerably less than between UM and OSU.

Good conversation , but we are still at a point of saying who will be our QB? What do we do about our LB corps. ? and will our ground game improve enough to make an impact and step up to a higher level? Answer me these questions and it will be easier to answer the post. Jake answered the bell this season. HE is why we went 9-3 ,and possibly 10-3. No Jake no success this fall. That is all on Coach Jim as well for having the plan to get the program going in the correct direction. "74

NOPE.. NOT EVEN CLOSE..

2016 is your best chance in the next 3 years to get a win..not the next 20 years..
UM will be stronger/older in trenches in 2016 and young in trenches/weaker in 2017/2018..
You have been pushed around at the line of scrimmage for roughly 10 years by MSU/OSU... And you have an anemic record during those times to show for it..
IN 2012 MSU was missing 4 starters on OL to injury...
IF Harbaugh wants to keep his fan base he cannot start 0-4. Or even 2-6. To Meyer and Dantonio.... Cant always talk.. Gonna have to beat those coaches..
Your window is next year.. MSU will be extremely strong in 2017/2018 looking at the roster....

Michigan will win 12 games next year and likely be in the playoffs. O'Korn is an excellent QB and Michigan will have a slew of young talented skill people. The Walker kid will sign with UM as a RB. They will beat both MSU and OSU in their stadium next year. The MSU and OSU run with the Wolverines will be ended next year because their talent is finally gone. Michigan is likely to have a top 2 recruiting class in February.

Well he is entitled to think whatever the heck he wants. Bottom line is Michigan will continue to recruit way better then MSU as is the case again this year. MSU has been better at developing talent the past decade but I would argue JH is no chump at that part of the game and he will develop talent. Hoke and RR were terrible in that aspect of football. I do think next year will likely be our best chance and 2017 we may take a step back before surging again hopefully.

It stinks that we have to play both MSU and OSU on the road (thank you Dave Brandon for being asleep at the wheel when that went down), but still, with the team we have coming back we can make a run. I could see us traveling to Columbus with a chance at the playoff.

If O'Korn lights it up next year we'll have a shot to beat anyone..

Not to mention a coach that knows how to actually coach that high ranked talent. With the strong recruiting classes expected to continue, and a coach that actually knows what he is doing, they are only going to be stronger in 2017 and 2018. The depth is building back up.
