I recall thinking in 2016 that the team came out firing for every game starting with the opener. It was in mid season form for the opener with Hawaii, IIRC. They were no early games where they appeared to be flat for the game and they also showed a lot of offense that wasn’t necessary in those blow out wins. The team and staff seemed to treat each game as a “ red letter game”. As Bo often said, you can’t be up every single week on the schedule. That team appeared to wear down late in the season.
Maybe 2018 is slowly building and also particularly focused on the important conference games. Let’s wait and see how this unfolds, I’m more optimistic than most that this team will be ready for those 4 top 20 opponents and we’ll see a much higher degree of intensity and focus along with creative game plans. I was thrilled with the comeback win on Saturday and how dominating the D was with their backs to the wall.
