This weekend marked the third set of games in NIKE's EYBL AAU series. For those who don't know, EYBL stands for Elite Youth Basketball League, a collection of 40 very highly rated AAU teams which play against each other in a series of games culminating in a 16 team championship event in July. Not all of the top players play in the competition--some are injured (e.g., Tyus Battle), some play under the aegis of different shoe companies (e.g., Jon Teske, Quentin Goodin and Austin Davis, among others), and some play little or no AAU ball (e.g., Ricky Doyle)--but many of the top recruits play in the series. Many of the players Michigan is recruiting in the class of '16 have already played between a half dozen and a dozen games this spring against top competition in this series.

The EYBL stats to date for some of our recruits are listed below, for anyone who likes to know this kind of thing. Caveats apply--AAU games are usually less about team play, and more about individual play, especially on the defensive end. There are guys, like Carlton Brundidge, who excelled in these games, yet have been washouts in college; conversely, there are guys, like MAAR, who are wrongly downgraded because they wind up on teams with a bunch of guys playing for themselves, and get lost in the shuffle. There are also guys who are called on to do more or less, depending on the make-up of the team. However, the stats are one tool for evaluating potential recruits, as they show players against others they will be facing at the college level, as opposed to the typical high school game, where the opponent is often hopelessly outmatched.

Bryce Aiken--13.6 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 2.9/2.1 a/topg, 51% from 2, 35% from 3, 82% from the line. His team (PSA Cardinals) is 8-4.

Miles Bridges--20.6 ppg, 8.2 rpg, 1.7/3.0 a/topg, 49% from 2, 27% from 3, 72% from the line. His team (The Family) is 6-6.

Bruce Brown--17.1 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 3.1/2.7 a/topg, 48% from 2, 30% from 3, 64% from the line. His team (BABC) is 8-4.

Jarron Cumberland--17.5 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 1.8/1.0 a/topg, 51% from 2, 38% from 3, 71% from the line. His team (King James) is 8-4.

Kevin Huerter--12.3 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 3.0/1.3 a/topg, 53% from 2, 42% from 3, 79% from the line. His team (Albany City Rocks) is 8-4.
