We have received the worst legal and PR advise that money can possibly buy....

If it's true that all we have here is a rogue staffer scouting team's signs, all I can say is WOW to how everything has been handled. We managed to negotiate for an increase in games suspended (which brought OSU into play), and get the absolute maximum negative media impact on how the legal situation was handled, all while getting absolutely zero effect for anything that we may or may not have on other teams.

I mean the handling of legal/PR will be a case study in how not to do things.

And the worst of it all, is that the coaches and players should expect the opposite from these areas, and there's nothing they can do about it. They're all doing their jobs at an insanely elite level, and the University has given them Sparty-level support. And now we have to listen to Penis head Finebaum and his little groupy Heather Dinish calling this an absolute Ass-kicking to Michigan, and there's more coming.

What a shame to such a potentially amazing season.

A way forward to contemplate

We have been accused by the football world of being "cheaters". Our defense and pr campaign confuse me. We have not disputed the basic claim...

I fully understand that our first line of defense was that the coaching staff did not know what Conor Stalions was doing. I think that has proven to be correct. All of Harbaugh's and Stalion's electronic equipment was confiscated and scanned. Harbaugh put his own reputation on the block almost immediately with his statement. There are no reimbursements by the university or program for Stalion's expenses. We appear to have passed that hurdle.

We made legal arguments that the BIG was not following its own policies and procedures. Also true -- but doesn't address and may exacerbate the underlying accusations. Pundits continue to point out that we are making esoteric legal arguments. Why aren't we addressing the basic issue... Again, I defer to greater legal minds than mine about tactics.

There is a difference between the legal battle and the PR battle. To date, we have lost both.

It is time to go on offense with the PR battle. We should say that we have learned from this process and intend to be LEADERS so it can be eliminated.

1. We should point out VERY LOUDLY that all teams attempt to steal signs. We should continue to demonstrate this and show the world evidence. This is NOT ILLEGAL. Maybe it should be -- but it can be easily avoided by policies and technology
2. We should ask the following questions openly to all head coaches -- "Do you manage the staff member who is responsible for stealing sign? Does that person report to you? Do you know how he/she accomplishes his/her goal? Do you share this scouting with other teams?" We should answer all of those questions and set our policy going forward -- PUBLICLY
3. We should volunteer to fund the roll-out of microphones/speakers in all quarterback and defensive captains for the BIG

We are clearly not going to drop any mud on our competitors (if we have any). So lets PLEASE take the offense and clean up this ridiculous issue once and for all.

Insider Intel: Update on NCAA interviews, intimidation and continued lack of evidence

This story continues with the twists and turns. I know I had posted that it had been refuted by people who know that the NCAA was not in town to interview players, I can confirm that they were in this week talking to a handful of players. Even if I knew who the players were, I wouldn't share their identities.

It sounds like the NCAA came in hot with the intimidation of players, trying to push anyone to "spill the beans" and get the program in a gotcha moment. That moment did not happen as the NCAA continues to not have evidence that links anyone to Stalions' operation other than Stalions himself.

Those VERY close to Stalions have been adamant from day one that the NCAA is not going to find any evidence to link back to any coaches because there is none, this was his own doing.

I will continue to ask around and see what I can come up with but I have yet to hear anything that suggests the sky is falling or the NCAA has uncovered something nefarious.

Blake Corum has 152 carries this year. He had about 230 this time last year. He has only had 2 games with more than 16 carries. Last year he had 8

including 33, 30, 29, 28 and 28 carry games. Donovan's numbers are way down too. And that's great. No...this OL is not as good as last year. But they have made a point to keep them fresh. And last week they rode Blake for the first time, 26 carries for 145.

I know people have doubted the run game. Against OSU, they are going to Biakabutuka and Haskins that dude and then JJ is going to take the top off of the defense.

I hate that Jim won't be available. But there are going to be some interesting story lines about how Michigan plays that game.

MBR vs On3

Initially before all this started I favored On3. Since this mess started the reporting and calmness on this site is heads above On3. There it’s all gloom and doom and conjecture but here it’s solid reporting on facts. Then if MBR provides analysis, you know it’s analysis based on facts and they let you know when it’s opinion. Great job and obviously now my favorite site!! Super job guys. If I wasn’t retired I present each of you with a challenge coin 🤗

How To Keep Harbaugh

Sign him to the $12 million per year contract that’s been discussed here, but with a big buyout for him to leave. The $12 mil would make him tied with Bill Belichick as the highest paid coach in the NFL.

If Jim won’t sign that contract, that would be a strong indication that he intends to leave after this season. As good a coach as he might be, it’s unlikely that any of the NFL teams who may need a new coach next season are going to pay make him the highest paid coach in the NFL.

Winning

is all that matters.

Nothing was ever changing the minds of rivals or fans that hate Michigan.
Michigan just beat Penn State. Now, beat Maryland. Beat Ohio State.
They can say all they want about Stalions, but prove it didn't matter.
Beat them anyway. Then get Jim back, go win the Big Ten Championship, have Petitti hand you the trophy, and then go win a Natty.
