Something I hadn't considered about yesterday

Michigan's offense and defense have added elements, but schematically is virtually the same as what it was in 2021.
The Wolverines were pretty basic yesterday, I asked a player if some of the calls limited them.
"Having Gattis is what helped them."

Obviously knew Gattis was on the other side, but never really thought about what an advantage that actually was for Maryland in terms of gameplanning.

Thoughts over the last week….

First, had to take a break with business getting very busy and helping my wife get through her loss.

In addition, I was over the sign crap and still am. There are some GREAT people on here and some GREAT new additions. There was also an influx of trolls that @Trevor McCue addressed in another thread. Way too much negative crap being spewed, and it just got out of control.

Keep in mind that EVERYONE has been wrong about what was going to happen next in all the BS. Not the other sites, espn, SI, NO ONE has gotten this thing even 75% right. Nobody can. So lets try and keep in mind when people post things they an change in a nanosecond as we have all seen so let’s give people a break if they get it wrong.

If you are posting things just for sport, clicks etc. then you don’t belong on here. As many have said and especially @Josh Henschke and it bears repeating. This is supposed to be our barstool where we can talk sports. If your sport is trying to piss people off or worry people…again you don’t belong on here. Solid debate is always welcome but arguing with no substance is a waste of time for everyone.

People posting the same garbage repeatedly and asking the same question that had been answered in 5 different threads gets very old as well. All of it is counterproductive. The constant posting of tweets that were ALL speculation at best and 100% click bait (which people still do not recognize as such) is counterproductive as well.

The B1G dropped their investigation and without any new evidence their case is closed. So why pursue or talk about it. It’s a dead issue until it’s not. Don’t fall for the click bait.

The ncaa president wants helmet mics for all power 5 schools. This doesn’t sound like a man who wants blood. In fact, he said the ncaa has been “collaborating” with Michigan. JMO but even with the Partridge fiasco that Harbaugh gets time served and Michigan may get and fine and the case is closed. A 6-game suspension is one of the longest suspensions in history. I know the 1st 3 games were for “not being forthright with the ncaa” but 6 games is brutal to a team and yet here we are 11-0. Please don’t get sucked into all this garbage from espn and the freep and any other worthless talking heads. They don’t know any more than you do about what the end result will be. Please read. Compliments of @LenDaleWhite

Then above article was put up by lendalewhite in a thread and got very little to no attention because people want to believe all the negative out there when there appears to be a lot of positive to be seen in this article.

MORE THOUGHTS

The most important part of this thread for me is the team itself. These YOUNG men have been through something I don’t wish on anyone, and everyone can agree on that. They have overcome so much over the past month, and we owe them our 100% UNCONDITIONAL support. This is not a week of nitpicking the offense or the defense. This a week of positive vibes all week. This is not a week to bring up all the crap that this whole program had to deal with over the last month. This is a week to push all the bullshit aside for 1 damn week. They can’t run the ball, they can’t throw the ball, the secondary is now a problem. Leave all that shit for another time! In fact every time people question this team they prove the naysayers wrong.

I look at the Maryland game and see a GREAT win! On the road the second straight week after an extremely emotional win at state college against the #10 team in the country and no HC. They played the game without their LT and essentially the whole game without RW. JJ is nicked up but still was a go and did what he needed to do. He didn’t have his best game… so what! Btw JJ was CLUTCH on that 4th and 3 yesterday. PERFECT throw to Loveland.

As many have said Michigan had a terrible game against Illinois last year the week before The Game. Stop being so damn critical and enjoy this remarkable team. Support these players. They are doing a GREAT job blocking out the outside noise and they are between 18 and 22 years old I would think we as ADULTS could respect them enough to do the same!!!!! These young men are guilty of nothing but providing us and incredible amount of GREAT entertainment. Let’s try and thank them by staying positive and blocking out all the outside bullshit.

GO BLUE!!!!

Five Thoughts

1. 20 offensive points against Maryland is certainly far from ideal as an OSU tuneup. 3.3 yards per carry is piss poor and the passing game is broken. I honestly don't even know what we're trying to do with our passing game beyond it being the thing we do when we have no other choice and can't run. JJ vaulted himself into the Heisman lead during the weeks when we were running a balanced offense which allowed him to get in rhythm. You can't completely turn off your passing game for a game and a half like we did and then just turn it back on with the flip of a switch. JJ had no rhythm today, wasn't seeing the field, his timing was off. And on top of that, our playcalling was just nonsensical. On our first three possessions of the second half, we ran twice on 3rd & long... yet threw long passes on 2nd/3rd and short? And watching us run short yardage out of the shotgun is going to give me a heart attack. Our offense is completely out of whack right now, our OL is losing when there are only 5 of them on the field, and I am really concerned Sherrone is spread too thin. Having to run the OL and be the OC is an uncommon load as it is; heaping HC on top of that may just be too much.

2. My sense in several games this season, including last week, was that our defense was vulnerable if the other team's offense weren't incompetent, and were it not for Maryland unforced errors... we lose today. They schemed their way up and down the field on us and if that TE doesn't slip and fall on a first down play that was headed for big yardage in the first quarter, which was followed two plays later by a strip sack touchdown... this is a totally different game, one I'm not sure we survive. OSU is certainly going to be watching what Maryland exposed today and salivating. McCord's not going to make the same mistakes Tagovailoa made today. And Maryland doesn't have Harrison & Egbuka.

3. I think we may have gotten our answer today on "can Josh Wallace hold up against the better competition?" I think it's no. For the better part of the second half, we had Sainristil outside and McBurrows in the slot after Wallace had a rough first half.

4. Our pass rush was as fearsome as it has looked all season, so that's a positive.

5. I have always maintained that to win a national championship, you're eventually going to have to win a shootout. That's not something we've been wired to do under Harbaugh. We've only won one true high scoring game, Indiana in 2015, and on only two other occasions have we won while allowing 28 points in a game - Colorado in 2016 and Nebraska in 2021. My suspicion is that if we want to go to Indy and beyond, we're going to have to do it against a GOOD team for the first time next week, because I would be pleasantly surprised if Ohio State doesn't put the ball in the end zone four times. We have a lot to clean up and a lot to get un-stuck this week. 30 or more points against a good defense is probably what's going to be required. I'll bet that game is a pick 'em by the end of the week.

Just want to throw this out there….

UNLV is 9-2 and leading their conference. Beat Air Force @ AF for the lead in the conference yesterday. Bowling Green is 3rd in the MAC and a late TD from beating conference leading rival Toledo (Toledo’s only loss was a complete choke job against @ Illinois week 1.)

Still not going to break any strength of schedule records but seemingly a lot better than what it looked like week #1.
